5 Quick Important Lessons The Covid-19 Pandemic Taught Us As Business Owners....So Far
Written by the design team at HVD Studios, LLC
Adjusting to life during a pandemic hasn't been easy for some

Worldwide, Nationwide and Local restrictions have forced all of us to alter our lives in ways we never imagined. The Coronavirus has impacted so many lives in circumstances that extend far beyond the world of business, but in life itself. Our hearts go out to the multitude of small businesses that have had to shut down because of the pandemic due to not being able to offset the monetary losses they've incurred in light of the shut downs and millions of people losing their jobs and not being able to patronize businesses like normal.
Many lessons have been born from life’s current state, none more important than the brevity of life. We are living in a time of uncertainty, loss, and unprecedented adjustments to our daily lives. However, there are some things that we’ve learned from a business standpoint that just may change how we do things here at HVD Studios in the future.
Always expect the unexpected. Plan for yesterday, today and tomorrow….Today.
Always, always, always expect and plan for the expected. No matter how small the preparation or steps may be. Start somewhere that has the future in mind. Whether that is implementing a new rule or service, creating a new savings account or even developing an emergency plan that you hadn’t considered before.
It has been officially confirmed — not every meeting needs to be held in person
We’ve said this in a few previous entries before in regards to other topics — there is absolutely no true substitute for human interaction. We know. BUT — I am 1000% sure that everyone reading this at some point in their life has sat through more than a few dozen fruitless meetings that could’ve been handled via email. Nowadays, meetings held via video conferencing have sky rocketed tremendously and become a “new normal” that we don’t believe should disappear once the world returns back to normalcy in the near future (crosses fingers, knocks on wood and prays).
Teleworking should to be a regular occurrence, for good
Our team has made teleworking a perk that we’ve always appreciated. Post-Covid life has shown many employees and business owners that they can indeed fight through the distractions of a constantly barking dog or kids asking for snacks every 15 minutes with a little bit of adjusting and rescheduling. Not having to go through a whole routine of having to rush and fuss before hopping into the car and making the commute to work has saved a lot of people time, effort and money that can be used wisely in other ways.
De-stressing techniques are even more important than we realize
We wrote a blog about six months ago, which you can read
here, that talked about ways to beat burnout and relieve stress as an entrepreneur and business owner. There is so much worry and anxiety running rampant among the entire nation and world right now, which just adds to load that is shouldered when operating your own business or even building a brand.
Please read over the article and see if there are a few techniques that may help you get through your day with less stress and anxiety. If you think you may be in need of therapy services to deal with the pressures caused by the pandemic, don't hesitate to reach out to some of our clients that are therapists (www.lavantedorsey.com and
www.pauldelgrosso.com) to see if they can help.
Develop the ability to adapt to any adverse situations
As humans, we are stronger (and smarter) than we think. Increasing your skill set and offerings in case you need to pivot your business is key to handling the unforeseen as a business owner. Maybe you only operated from a physical location and now providing your goods or services online is the only way you can sustain your business. And maybe, just maybe, being forced to do so could change the forecast for your business for good and become a blessing in disguise. We’ve seen our favorite restaurants do this in a successful manner by now offering delivery and providing family bundled meals when they hadn’t before.
What ways have you extended your company's services to adjust to the pandemic?
